The Ant is the most compact among Extrema Ratio folding knives, boasting a small size without compromising on robustness, resistance, and reliability. Its structure is exceptionally sturdy, featuring a handle comprised of two distinct elements: an anodized anticorodal aluminum grip and a tempered steel frame serving as a locking mechanism for the blade (Frame Lock System). A portion of the frame is inwardly bent to securely hold the blade in place when open, thereby enhancing operator safety during usage.
The shank incorporates a slot for attaching a lanyard, and on the right side of the handle, there is a steel clip that enables discreet pocket concealment. The Ant is available in four versions, offering two different steel types, both sourced from Böhler, an Austrian company with whom Extrema Ratio has maintained a collaborative partnership for over two decades. Extrema Ratio relies on Böhler's well-established materials to craft its blades.
The Ant Black is constructed from Böhler N690 steel, hardened to a level of 58 HRC to achieve an optimal balance between edge retention and strength. Extrema Ratio utilizes this type of steel across the majority of its knives.
