The Gen III Microtech Combat Troodon is easily the best version to date, delivering meaningful upgrades while also coming in at a lower price. Yes, you read that right—it’s both improved and more affordable than its predecessor.

So, what’s new? The blade is now made from Böhler M390MK, Microtech’s proprietary steel. The pocket clip has been upgraded to milled titanium with a ceramic ball for smoother carry. The chassis has been redesigned for enhanced ergonomics, and it now features standard Torx hardware, allowing for easier field disassembly and maintenance.

Most notably, the internal mechanism has been completely reworked, resulting in one of the smoothest and easiest OTF actions currently available. In addition, milled grooves beneath the X-Button help reduce friction while also breaking up lint and debris, further improving reliability and ease of use.

The Combat Troodon has always been known as a large, hard-hitting OTF knife, and the Gen III version fully embraces that identity—while significantly increasing overall value.
