The Viking swords with their broad double edged blade and slightly rounded point were designed for cutting and slashing rather than for thrusting only. In the late 8th century Viking smiths developed the ability to make blades of homogenous steel that equaled or even surpassed the performance of the pattern-welded blades. This recreation of an 11th century Viking Sword has a bronze hilt with traditional Viking patterns. A fuller runs the length of the stainless steel blade.
